God, my redeemer

By

God is great…a restorer of beauty for the ashes within me.

Isaiah 61:3 states that God gives “beauty for ashes,” transforming mourning into joy and despair into praise.

God was indwelled in my soul through my belief in Jesus’ death on the cross for my sins and His resurrection.

Jesus through my confession of sin and acceptance of Him as Lord of my life gave me His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit now lives in me within my human spirit, my heart.

As you pray and surrender yourself to God and your Holy Spirit living in you there comes a seeking within your spirit to change and be more Christ-like.

As for me, I am changed, my desire to be more righteous, more like God is my true evidence of my surrender.

There can be physical as well as spiritual changes that happen. Some may not show physical signs or what the Bible calls “wonders” but definitely know the mSpirit is within them.

Being filled or indwelled with Holy Spirit can happen alone or while being saved. It could happen during prayer alone or while praying with someone.

The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and will not frighten you. Sometimes it just happens that you ask Him to fill you with His Spirit so He does so quietly and you may feel full of joy despite your personal day to day circumstances.

In my memory, my feeling of having the Holy Spirit came after a midweek church service as I prayed with my pastor. I felt so filled with joy that I just started singing. I also remember singing in “tongues.” I also began “speaking in tongues”(neither did I expect). This is a personal experience of speaking in a language you may or may not understand. This is also known in the church and by other Christians as a private or personal prayer language. It is your Holy Spirit praying through you and for you to your God, Abba Father.

If you allow Him, this same Holy Spirit helps you to change from a sinner to someone wanting to live as God, Jesus Christ wants for you…a Godly man, woman, or child.

The change is a process and does not usually happen immediately or overnight but I remember that my desire to live as Jesus did grew in me and my willingness to change was immediate. Over time, you pray and not only give God a list of requests but begin to listen to Him as you change one small battle after another.

I call my sins (like lying and not committing to prayer, overspending “stones.”) My Holy Spirit helps me work on one or two stones at a time.

As our relationship has grown, my trust has grown which is big for me because trust and abandonment fear have always been with me since childhood when I experiencedr childhood sexual abuse or CSA age 4-12.

The Holy Spirit personally to me is:
A Comforter
A Counsellor
A Teacher
A Provider
A Protector
An Advocate
An Intercessor
A Gift Giver
A Soul Searcher
An Encourager
A Truth Teller
A Personal Friend

My prayer for you is that you be saved if you are not. And also I pray that you be filled or refilled by the Holy Spirit to live for Jesus especially during these times of change in the World. May you experience the scripture from Isaiah 61:3.
Joy to you!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
