Are You Humble?
I’ve thought about God’s desire, command to be humble. One thing I struggle with is pride and competing to be first.
I felt that if my family was proud of me that I would be more than the abused child or the invisible child. So I excelled at school and later in college and my career in nursing to be best or #1. I often achieved this honour but still felt empty because I was longing for respect from family or others.
I realize now in retirement that what I really longed for was God, God’s respect or acceptance so that I wouldn’t feel invisible anymore.
Through my belief in God and accepting Jesus as my saviour, I live each day confessing my sin of pride and live to be accepted with a character that practices humility, being humble each day, hour, minute.
Now I have the Holy Spirit to remind me when my pride getsin the way. Below are some verses on humility. Are you humble or do you struggle as I did and do?
